I am Braian Angola (also known in international basketball as Brian Angola), a professional basketball player born in Villanueva, Casanare. From an early age, I understood that this sport would demand relentless discipline, sacrifice, and consistency.
At age 14, I left home to pursue my dream. My journey took me to the United States, earning NJCAA All-American honors at North Idaho College and starring at Florida State University, where we made our historic run to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2018.
After competing in the NBA G-League, across Europe (winning titles in Belgium, Serbia, and Israel, and playing in the EuroLeague), and now in Japan with the Toyama Grouses, wearing the Colombia National Team jersey remains my greatest honor and commitment.
Every stage has been unique, but the mindset remains unchanged: put in the work, compete fearlessly, and never forget where I come from.
Villanueva is where everything began. That is where I grew up alongside my family, in an environment that taught me early on the value of hard work, discipline, humility, and staying close to your loved ones.
It was also where my passion for basketball took root, and where I first dared to imagine that this sport could take me further than I had ever known.
Over the years, basketball has given me the opportunity to live, compete, and evolve worldwide, but my roots accompany me at every step. Casanare represents my origins, my people, my family, and an essential part of the person and athlete I am today.
